Q: I want to rip some cd's and I already selected the highest bit rate but I don't know which audio format is the best. There is Windows Media Audio, Windows Media Audio Pro, Windows Media Audio (Variable Bit Rate), Windows Media Audio Lossless, MP3, And WAV (Lossless)
A: "Lossless" will have the best quality as it is exactly that: lossless (meaning you lose no data or quality). However, these files (especially wav) will be very large. The WMA files have less portability than MP3 files (for instance, I don't think iPods can play WMA files) but will get better quality with the same compression rate as MP3. Personally I like to encode things at MP3 192kpbs. It's a good compromise between portability, quality, and file-size.
