msconfig.exe configuration and apps on startup help?

Q: Okay, so lately my internet has been slow and I think this could be it... Under general I have Selective startup and then Process SYSTEM.ini file and process WIN.INI checked. Is this okay? Also, under the startup tab I have a file under labeled as nslookup ("C:\DOCUME~1\KENNYW~1\APPLIC~1\FNTS~1\nslookup.ece" - vt bndrv) Could it be a virus or should it even be started? Also, I have run AVG, Avira, CCleaner, Disk Cleanup, and Disk Defragmenter and have had no luck to make everything faster, although I remain at 100mbps. HELP? Suggestions?

A: C:|documents, etc., etc., is the home for most of your applications. this is not a virus. And selective startup has nothing to do with your internet speed. Selective startup is when your computer starts up. If you have every program on your computer starting when it starts up, it will take a very long time to load. All you really need to start up is Office, if you have that, your antivirus and a particular screensaver, if you run one that didn't come with Windows. You are mixing up apples and oranges here, and expecting to get pears. Ain't gonna happen. Startup and internet speed are two completely differeent things. Your internet speed is only going to be as fast as your internet service provider makes it. If you have broadband, talk to your cable provider. If you have dial-up, there isn't anything you can do about the speed on your telephone line.
