Q: My 2006 MacBook runs very slowly when Microsoft Word is open. Word also takes a very long time to start and everything is slow when it's running. Note, the software is legitimate and was purchased in an Office 2008 package from an Apple store earlier this year. Does anyone else have this problem?
A: It may be two problems: one, you only have 512MB of RAM, which is the bare minimum for running Leopard and means that you need to upgrade to at least 1GB or two, you haven't updated to the latest version of Office. To update Office, go on Word to Help>Check for Updates.
