Q: i have recieved a computer of e bay and it is running xp pro,when i use the automatic updates and try to install them i get a message saying unable to install and a list of updates that could not be installed,i down loaded the sp3 from microsoft the other day,i had to give my c.o.a code which i did not know as it`s not on the pc,but microsoft told me what it was anyway and it seemed genuine and loaded ok,but i still can`t install the updates,i have been on the microsoft website without much luck,can anybody help!!!!!!! thanks.........
A: Most likely update components are damaged, normally a repair install can cause this. Try the following : Open a command window and register the following DLL's net stop wuauserv (this stops the update service) regsvr32 wuapi.dll regsvr32 wuaueng1.dll regsvr32 wuaueng.dll regsvr32 wucltui.dll regsvr32 wups2.dll regsvr32 wups.dll regsvr32 wuweb.dll net start wuauserv (this restarts the update service)
