trying to work photos on

Q: scratch disk, clear some room on your scratch disk... whats my scatch disk and how do i make room on it.. i do have a thousand or more pictures in fiels on "my documents"... ..oh my god!..i think i neglected to tell you i'm pretty much computor illerterate! lol ..i can do e mail and i'm great at photo shop.. but ," hard drive", "ram", "default"..esspecially "default"...i'm , i'm, i'm, i'm....mmmmmmm.. ..i just thought i'd put a few hundred picture on a disk then erase them off my fiels or maybe just reduce the sizes..although adobe isnt even letting me do that...

A: A Scratch Disc is like extra RAM, since Photoshop is such a resource-consuming program it uses the Hard Drive as RAM. So basically if you're hard drive that Photoshop is default to (probably the one you installed it on, probably C Drive) is full then you won't have enough memory to make images. To fix the problem: 1) Open Photoshop 2) Go Edit -> Preferences 3) Select Plugins/Scratch Discs 4) Change the primary Scratch Disc to another drive that has more space or set a Secondary Scratch Disc 5) Close and Re-Open Photoshop That should fix it :) Hope you now have a better understanding of Scratch Discs and your problem is fixed.
