Q: I need to download itunes and its telling me I need sp2 or newer but everytime (for the past two hours) that I try to download it is taking forever and eventually not downloading, is there a problem with my pc or am i doing something wrong. thanks in advance.
A: What kind of internet connection do you have? And are you trying to get it from Microsoft or some other web site? The Microsoft links have heavy usage during normal day hours because these are the typical hours when IT support folks are trying to download upgrades/patches for users. There are some days that even i cannot download upgrades for my users due to being timed out. If your connection is dial-up that's probably why your download is timing out because SP2 is very large. If you have a fast internet connection (such as DSL) then the server you're trying to download the upgrade from probably has something going on with it (unless it's just the heavy usage I described in para 1 above) If you have a DSL connection, then probably your best bet at this point is to download SP3 directly from Microsoft. Regardless of which internet connection you have, but especially if it is dial up, then I suggest waiting until later in the evening hours to access microsoft for downloads. The traffic will be significantly less and your download will be faster as a result.
