Q: I have this problem in both Firefox and OOo. If I open it up and I want a new window for a second document in OOo, I can't put it on the second monitor. Is there a way to do this. Some sort of command line switch to force the second window to go to the other monitor? I'm using an old high-end nVidia graphics card on Ubuntu. can't drag from one to the other. That drags within workspaces. I am using different X sessions, not Twin View because my monitors are not the same. I got it working, before the last suggestion over at ubuntuforums.org
A: You have two X sessions, they are two independent sessions of Xwindows. You have to have a one session, and basically one desktop stretched across two monitors. It looks like nVidia twin view on Linux isn't as nice as in Windows for monitors that are different size. I found two guides that might help you with your issue. http://vasir.net/blog/ubuntu/set-up-dual-monitors-with-ubuntu-804/ http://www.thecrumb.com/2008/01/22/ubuntu-nvidia-and-two-monitors/
