Q: So I'm trying to download custom content from a site. a window pops up with the items to download, and they have the ".package" as the type of file. I tried downloading them as a Sim pack, but that doesn't work. Does anyone know what kind of program i need to open a file package?
A: Yes. You need the Sims 2. :) The game is the only program that will read package files. Copy or drag the package files into the following folder: My Documents/EA games/The Sims 2/Downloads. If the item requires a mesh sure you have that as well. When you load your game, the game will read the files and they should be available in buy or build mode.
