Can you please help me with ?

Q: Backup. I am running windows XP home. I am confused to know which backup program to use. If I was to use "Ghost" backup am I able to download my backup in the case of a crash? Also to do any backup am I able to use several DVD's? if so how to use more than one DVD? Is there a "Backup program" you can recommend.

A: With XP Home you need a "third party" back up program. For backing up just your personal data you could use a free program called SyncBack. http://www.download.com/SyncBack/3000-2242_4-10413802.html This will back up your files but will not back up your operating system. For backing up your whole hard drive, including the operating system, you would need to make a "disc image". That is what Ghost can do. I recommend and use Acronis True Image. http://www.acronis.com/ Most back up programs will automatically split the backup over several DVD's if needed. Some back up programs will not burn directly to disc but will make an image ready for burning. You then use your own disc burning software. I back up to an external hard drive. That is what I recommend. I think making a disc image is the best way to go. You can add to the image whenever you want and so have an always up to date back up. Here is a link to a good site with reviews of some free back up software and links to their sites. http://www.techsupportalert.com/
