Q: I have just got my PC back from the shop and now all the wording under the icons on my desktop in Windows Xp have nasty blue blocks around them
A: This is an issue with the appearance settings of Windows XP, and is relatively easy to fix. First, go to the control panel and double-click on "System". Click on the "Advanced" tab, and then click on the "Performance" button. There should be a list of performance options. Scroll down the list, and second to the bottom you should see an option that says "Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop". Check it to enable it, then click "OK". Good luck!
