Q: I just started getting a pop up for "scanner.vav-scanner.com" site saying I'm infected. My AVG isn't picking up anything. youtube has some stuff but it all looks bogus-in fact everything I looked up regarding this looks fishy. Does ANYONE have any actual info on this that doesn't result in d/l'ing some B.S. spyware finder that will inevitably leave me in worse shape than I started. Thanks in advance! Special note here: used smitfraudfix, so far so good HOWEVER: it's screwed around with my toolbar clock (I find that disturbing) & this is how to correct that:: (xp kiddies-had vista & HATED IT) Control panel-->date, time language-->change format #'s dates & times-->CUSTOMIZE-->TIME-->h:mm:ss:tt
A: - if you are using xp, then download and run a smll free tool called smitfraudfix tool from geekstogo website. That can remove the infection. -if you are using vista, then try the free antispyware called Spybot S&D -alternately you can download, install and run HijackThis tool from Trendmicro website. Do a scan, check the box in front of the entry listing the website, and press Fix Selected button
