A: If he does a common IP trace he will not be able to find you because the IP does not give pinpoint accuracy as where is the exact street address. But it's not impossible, if he really wants to know where you live, he could call your ISP (internet service provider) based on the information he gathered from your IP, and disguised himself as a police officer or something like that or bribe a worker and request the info about that IP(that's it's assuming that the people that work at the ISP are dumb and don't care giving information to people over telephone without confirming with authorities the identity of the person who is requesting that info). Why this could work, because every ISP gives it's clients an IP and a MAC address to your modem. It does not matter that your ISP changes your IP or your in a DHCP (IP pool) because what ultimately decides your internet speed and other settings is the MAC address that has the modem. So assuming that he trace your IP to 200.14.23.111 he will know that your from some state in the USA and that you have an ISP. Let's say that when you connected earlier your IP was 111.34.234.1 how he is going to identify you if yo have changed your IP??? Easily, he call your ISP an request info about the first IP, then he tell the operator the exact time he chat with you, the operator compare the time and find that the MAC of that IP at that time correspond to the the modem MAC 00:11:22:33:44:55 (this is an example), next the operator search his database for the person who has that MAC, and bingo. You, like many people sign a contract and in that contract you put your phone number, street address, etc. The operator has to match that MAC with the person who has that contract. This method is a bit more hard if the you use a proxy but not imposible, but that is another story. Don't worry about being trace because your ISP will not give that info to any person unless is by a court order.
