Q: Cant get to 192.168.0.1 to update my modem. What do I do? I need to update the firmware of my modem. And i have to follow the instructions and stuff. I HAVE A ROUTER that I'm using also. I need to get to the Advance key and stuff but I cant get to 192.168.0.1. Im following the instructions to update it from http://subscriber.communications.siemens.com/subscriber_networks/upg-4100.shtml Plz help thanks. I CANT FIND THE ADVANCED TAB IN THE LINK. PLZ read the hole message before replying thanks. When I connect through my modem I cant get internet connection.
A: You don't need an internet connection to update the firmware. That's why you download the firmware first to later upload to the device. Pay particular attention to the first two lines of the guide from Seimens: 1. Plug the Yellow Ethernet cable from the 4100 modem in to your computer. *** remove the router from the picture, plug directly into the modem 2. Open the web browser and enter http://192.168.0.1 in the address bar, and hit "Enter" key. (You might need to disable any firewall software if unable to access the modem GUI.) *** If you have a newer antivirus, you may need to disable that temporarily as it could have a firewall integrated. If you still cannot get into the modem - try the following: click Start > Run > type cmd hit enter on the command line type ipconfig /release on the command line again, type ipconfig /renew once more on command line, type ipconfig/ flushdns try from step 2 again.
